My Project
I am requesting items for my cheer team. We live in a low-income area where it is hard for some families to provide the needed resources to be on a school team. My cheer team participates in cheer camp over the summer because I have some cheerleaders who have never cheered before. This camp introduces them to the movements, stunting and dancing of our sport. As this camp tends to be a little expensive, it can be a hardship for families to purchase the other things required for cheer (shoes, poms, bows, etc).
My goal for this project is to promote relationships and teamwork.
I promote individuality and taking responsibility. If my cheerleaders aren't worried about paying for the things they need to participate, it will be easier for them to be positive about the sport.
My students (cheerleaders) are special because they are ambassadors for our middle school. We cheer for football season and basketball season so we have plenty of time to become a family and hold each other accountable. We may start out as strangers but end up as family.
